Obituary of Avis Blankenship

Avis A. Blankenship (nee McGary) Age 95. Passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at her late residence in Joliet. Born December 14, 1917. Avis worked many years at Hart, Shafner and Marx as a seamstress. She retired from Panduit Corporation. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking for her family. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and Eastern Star. Preceded in death by her husband, Kelly; son, Ronnie; parents, Everett and Lela McGary; brothers, Edward, Bert and Robert. Avis is survived by her children, Della (Boyd) Rains, Donna Curry, Gary (Louise) Blankenship, James Blankenship, Nita (Mike) Rose, daughter-in-law, Constance Kohl and sister, Frances Elassaad of Apple Valley, CA; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends also survive. Funeral Services for Avis A. Blankenship will be on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery.
