Obituary of LeRoy Adelmann

LeRoy G. Adelmann "Lee" Age 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his family by his side. A former resident of Lockport, IL. Lee was a parishioner at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Lockport and later a parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Joliet. He was a lifetime member of the Lockport VFW, Lockport Moose, and was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was a highly decorated veteran of WWII, a recipient of two Bronze Stars and the Combat Medical Badge 1st Award. Lee worked at the Texaco Refinery for 35 years. He and Marybea then moved to Hawaii to manage the Hale Kia Complex for ten years, returning to Florida for retirement, and most recently was a resident at the Loyalton in Joliet. Lee enjoyed ballroom dancing with Marybea, and was an avid golfer. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marybea (2007); parents, George and Florence; two brothers, William and Jack. Survived by his daughter, Chris (John) McFarland; his son, George (Beverly) Adelmann; four grandchildren, Melissa (Brooke) Bavilacqua, Kelly (Ryan) Dooley, and Kyle and Carla Adelmann; four great-grandchildren, Chloe and Carly Bavilacqua, Gavin and Reese Dooley; his sister, Georgene McCarthy; and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the dedicated and caring staff at the Loyalton Assisted Living, especially Alisha Blaylock, Julie Lanfear and Janice Edwards. The family would also like to acknowledge Joliet Area Community Hospice for their compassionate care; and also Dr. Chiu, Dr. Stefan Nemeth and their wonderful staffs. As it was LeRoy's wish, cremation rites have been accorded. All friends and relatives are invited to meet on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until the Memorial Mass begins at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue, Joliet, IL. Inurnment with full military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice. Arrangements by: FRED C.
