Kenneth M. Brockett
Age 79. Late of Morris and formerly of Elwood, passed peacefully at his home, Monday, December 10, 2007, surrounded by his family. Born November 23, 1928 in Carmi, IL. to the late Bernard and Vivian Brockett. A graduate of Joliet Township High School. A U.S. Army Korean War Veteran who was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge, the United Nations Service Medal and the Bronze Star. He retired from the Plasterers and Cement Masons Local 5 of Chicago after over 30 years of service. Kenneth enjoyed woodworking, was an avid fisherman and also a loyal Cub fan.
Beloved husband of 55 years to Mabel I. (nee Hibner); Loving father of Kenneth A. (Vicky), Kathleen (Rev. David) Cunsolo, Ronald (Linda), Robert (Jeri), Christopher (Cathy), Lori (Steven) Thomas, James (Mary) and Jennifer (Douglas) Maier. Proud grandfather of 18 and dear "Papa" of 4. Also survived by a brother Wendell (Lura) Brockett , sister, Colletta (late James) Cronk and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth M. Brockett will lie in state Friday, December 14, 2007 from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Morris, 1650 W. Rt. 6. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Suggested memorials are to the First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
