Obituary of Stella Tonelli

Stella M. Tonelli Age 98, of Joliet, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Cuba, IL on August 12, 1914, she moved to Joliet in 1955. Stella, along with her sister-in-law, Mary Chiotti, operated Stell-Mar Beauty Salon in Joliet for 23 years. She was a volunteer at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center for 21 years. She loved humor, and always wanted everyone to be happy. Preceded in death by her parents, James and Lucy (nee Barbaro) Tonelli; her brothers, Aldo and Mario Tonelli; Tom (Mary) Chiotti and Premo (Wilma) Chiotti; one sister, Lucy (Attiglio) Fassiotto. Survived by her most beloved niece and caretaker, Rosalie Shackelford, also very beloved nieces, Renee Finucane, Janice (Bob) Ahders, and Shirley Fassiotto; sister-in-law, Marie Tonelli; beloved nephews, Kenneth (Debbie) Tonelli, Tom (Beverly) Chiotti, Kevin Tonelli and Dana Tonelli; several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was also blessed with wonderful neighbors, Jennie and Jim Pfeiffer. Funeral Services for Stella M. Tonelli will be Friday, June 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet to the Church of St. Jude for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. Interment Saturday in Cuba, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
