Obituary of Eleanor Elias

Eleanor Estelle Elias (nee Ciancanelli) Age 89. Peacefully Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. Born September 4, 1923 in Joliet and raised in Crest Hill, she was a lifetime area resident. Lifelong and founding member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, where she was a member of Women Volunteers. Preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Loretta (nee Merolli) Ciancanelli; sisters, Emma Ciancanelli, Lena Liberty, Olivea Puhala, Elizabeth Jenkins and Carmela Vallrugo; brothers, Frank and Joseph Ciancanelli. Survived by her husband, George J. Elias of Joliet; son, Ronald (Patricia) Elias; daughter, Felicia Elias (Mark Secor) of Woodridge; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Our family has profound gratitude for Joliet Area Community Hospice, especially Margie, Suzanne and Erin. Their kindness and professionalism will always be remembered in our hearts. Funeral Services for Eleanor E. Elias will be Friday, June 21, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the Humane Society of North America would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
