Age 93. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home following a brief illness with brain cancer. Born in Panindicuaro, Michoacan, Mexico, and a Joliet resident since 1951. Retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in 1985 after 18 years of service as a welder. Rutilio was a very hard worker. He enjoyed to work and continued to do so after his Caterpillar retirement. His post-retirement jobs included his employment at the Charlie Club in Joliet, IL and as a farmhand in Plainfield, IL. A member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club Lodge # 851. He was a bowler for many years with the Hawks Mixed League at Jahneke Bowling Lanes. Rutilio was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and for being a great story teller.
Preceded in death by his parents, Benigno and Soledad (nee Cortez) Suarez; three brothers, Juan, Rafael, Elias; two sisters, Ofrocina and Brigida.
Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary L. (nee Orosco) Suarez of Joliet; one son, Michael (Martha) Suarez of Shorewood; three daughters, Teresa (Francisco) Lozano of Crest Hill, Renee (Ron) Bowman of New Lenox and Elaine (Beto) Gutierrez of New Lenox; ten grandchildren, Cyndi and Erik Suarez, David and Carla Lozano, Brian and Natalie Bowman, Vanessa, Nico, Jessica and Isabel Gutierrez; one brother, Jesus (Pompeya) Suarez of California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services for Rutilio Suarez will be Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. Joliet, to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation Sunday, 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
