Obituary of Johnny Murray

Johnny Ray Murray Age 77, of Morris, IL, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday August 4, 2013 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL. He was Born March 15, 1936 in Bush, IL to the late Mattie Mildred (nee Harper) and Thomas Murray. He is survived by his wife Barbara S., nee Doggett (Sinkhorn) Murray of Morris; six children, Roberta (Tommy) Holland of Hurst, IL, Carol (Ken) Henderson of Olympia Fields, IL, Linda (Carl) Kluge of Herrin, IL, John (Angie) Murray of Bush, IL, Jeff (Tracy) Murray of Channahon and Christina (late Danny) Williams of Marion, IL; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (late Gary) Lantrip and Barbara J. Murray; also survived by three step-daughters, Connie (Wayne) Carlson of Morris, IL, Tammie (Doug) Hall and Pat (Jay) Faletti, both of Braidwood, IL; eight step-grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta (nee Gaddy); his parents and siblings. Johnny was employed as an auto mechanic and body man who restored many classic cars over the years. His true calling, however, was merging friendship and healthcare as a CNA at the former Morris Lincoln Nursing Home and the Grundy County Home. One of his proudest moments was receiving his certification from Joliet Junior College. His hobbies included "Junking", flea markets, and subtly reminding his wife from time to time of receiving the CNA of the month award from the Morris Lincoln Nursing Home. All friends and relatives are invited to gather Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 1 p.m. until a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Channahon, IL. As it was Johnny's request, cremation rites will be accorded and his final earthly remains will be interred back home, near Bush, IL in Blairville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to the building fund of First Baptist Church, 24466 W. Eames St. (Rt. 6) Channahon, IL 60410. Arrangements by Fred C.
