Obituary of Lawrence Santini

Lawrence E. Santini "Butch" Age 101, of the Timbers of Shorewood, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home supported by his family and friends. Born in Cardiff, IL on November 8, 1911, he had resided in Joliet most of his life. A US WWII Navy veteran, he served in the South Pacific and China. A member of American Legion Harwood Post #5 and VFW Stone City Post #2199. He was a retired Laborer and longtime member of Local #75. He also was a wallpaper printer and a past president of the International Wallpaperers Union. He was the loving father of Lydia (Craig) Massey and Lawrence (Irene) Santini; beloved grandfather of Alita (Dan) Guerrero, Lillian (Keith) Polcyn and Laurie Ann (Eyal) Wilamowski; proud great-grandfather of Alex, Marcus, Devin and Cali; and fond uncle to several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille (1979); parents, Orselina (Cheli) and Charles Santini; three brothers, Atillio, Oliver, Nando; and one sister, Laura Conroy. Lawrence was a founding member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, gladly offering his trade skills and assisting in the construction of the rectory . He enjoyed painting, and together with his beloved wife, provided several area companies with banners, yard signs, and other beautiful products. He will fondly be remembered by his family for his kindness, generosity and his zest for life. Funeral Services for Lawrence E. Santini will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, where military honors will be accorded.
