Obituary of Herbert Nelson

Herbert T. Nelson, Jr. "Tom" Age 67. Suddenly, Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at his residence, while sipping a cup of coffee and reading the morning paper, he succumbed to an apparent heart attack. Born on the south side of Chicago, he was a longtime Joliet area resident. A U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran. Retired from Silver Cross Hospital, as a maintenance technician, at the end of April this year after over 21 years of service. Formerly employed as an electrician, and member of IBEW. He formerly owned and operated Nelson's Carpet Care. Member of the Bass Fishing Association, he absolutely loved to fish. Preceded in death by his parents, Herbert T., Sr. and Sylvia (nee Ferris) Nelson. Survived by his loving wife, Catherine M. (nee Szostak) Nelson; one son, Brian (Heather) Nelson both of Joliet; one brother, Terrence Nelson of Arvada, CO; two nephews, Fletcher and Jeff Nelson. Funeral Services for Herbert T. Nelson, Jr. will be Monday, September 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet 60431. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
