Obituary of Betty Calkins

Betty M. Calkins (nee Splittorff) Age 74, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center with her family by her side. Born September 5, 1939 in Albion, IL to Charles F. and Eleanor (Smith) Splittorff, and a resident of Joliet over 50 years. She retired from Kerr Glass in Plainfield with over 20 years of service, where she worked in quality control. Survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Darrell E. Calkins; three sons, Steve (Marcela) Calkins of Crest Hill, Greg (Jill) Calkins of Joliet and Mark (Darlene) Calkins also of Joliet; six grandchildren, J.P. (Grace) Calkins, Valerie (Vince) McClannahan, Kyle Calkins, Korey (fiancée, Alli Petco) Calkins, Kevin Calkins and Tracey Calkins; three great-grandchildren, Victoria McClannahan, Rhianna Calkins and Becky Calkins; one brother, David (Lynn) Splittorff; one niece; and one nephew. Preceded by her parents; and one brother, Bill Splittorff. Funeral Services for Betty M. Calkins will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet, IL. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday morning 11:00 a.m. until time of services.
