Obituary of Joseph Catarello
Dr. Joseph A. Catarello
Age 81, a longtime Northbrook resident and retired dentist, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013.
He was born in Joliet, June 16, 1932 to the late Vincenzina (Marvetta) and Giuseppi Catarello.
Beloved husband of 54 years to Patricia (nee Jones); loving father of Christina, Joseph Jr. (Teresa), Dominic (Julie), John (Kristin), Sara (Paul) Black, Mark, Paula Smith, Dr. Daniel (Beatrice), Patrick and Maria (Michael) Leitner; proud grandfather of 18 granddaughters and 18 grandsons; dearest great-grandfather of two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; also survived by two sisters, his twin, Congetta (J. James) Stasko and Josephine Dulny, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Grace Letto and Rose Sula; one brother, James Catarello; mother-in-law, Jeanne F. Jones; and brother-in-law, Jerry F. Jones.
A U.S. Army veteran who served in the military police during the Korean War, Dr. Catarello received his education from Michigan State University and Loyola University School of Dental Surgery. His career spanned 49 years, practicing in Illinois, Michigan and Florida. He was a past president of the Arcolian Dental Arts Society and a member of the ADA and the CDS as well as Opus Dei for 51 years.
Funeral Services for Dr. Joseph A. Catarello will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to the Church of St. Anthony where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Illinois Citizens for Life in Downers Grove or The Willows Academy of Des Plaines would be appreciated.
