Obituary of Mary Wason

Mary C. Wason (nee Zivaly) Age 93, a resident of Crest Hill (Chaney), passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Mary was born August 4, 1920 to Anthony and Josephine (nee Podnar) Zivaly. She was the third of six children and the oldest daughter. As a young girl, she attended St. Mary Nativity for First Holy Communion, then went on to attend Chaney School and graduated from Lockport Township High School. She married the love of her life, John Wason, on June 14, 1941. She was primarily a wife, mother and homemaker most of her life. Mary is survived by her daughter, Donna Whitney; son , John (Linda, nee Klinker) Wason; three grandchildren, Christine Whitney, Mike (Kelli, nee Canup) Wason and Arlene (Richard) Wedsted. Mary was the proud great-grandmother of Mike Wason, Jr., Debbie Wason, Reagan Wedsted, and Greenlee Wedsted. Preceded in death by her husband, John (2002); parents, her brothers, Steve and Matt; sisters, Ann Albert, Josephine Staniszewski, and Francis Kemp; daughter-in-law, Debb Wason and son-in-law, Ron Whitney. Funeral Services for Mary C. Wason will be Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet to St. Anne Catholic Church, Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
