Obituary of Charles Silkey

Charles E. Silkey "Chuck" After a courageous battle with cancer, Charles Edward Silkey passed away peacefully at the age of 59, while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ventura, CA, he was a long time Joliet area resident. Retired from the U.S. Post Office after many years of service. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Carolyn (nee Harmon) Silkey. Survived by his loving wife, Ellen L. (nee Rossi) Silkey of Joliet; three daughters, Melissa (Joshua) Shimizu of Serena, IL, Denalynn Silkey of DeKalb, IL and Stephanie Silkey of Joliet; two grandchildren, Gavin and Dylan Shimizu; his stepmother, Claudia (nee Bear) Silkey of Santa Rosa, CA; one sister, Carla (William) Ambrecht of Clearlake, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his friend, Bill W. also survive. Funeral Services for Charles E. Silkey will be Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet. Rev. Keith Forni officiating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National where full military honors will be accorded under the auspices of the United States Air Force. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
