Obituary of Elizabeth Benson

Elizabeth J. Benson "Betty Joy" Age 64, a lifetime Joliet area resident, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Beloved wife of 47 years to Ken; loving mother of Gina (Wayne) Lopez, Shane Benson and Beth Ann Benson; devoted grandmother of Christopher, Michelle, Meagan and Brittany Lopez; Antonio and Nik Benson; proud great-grandmother of Adrian, Sophia and Andrew; dear sister of Sam Hodock and Carmella Hodock; also survived by her special aunt, Jean Bellos; sister-in-law, Chloe Benson and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Hodock; brother, William Hodock; and her best friend and sister-in-law, Terry Hall. Although she loved collecting handmade Italian Pottery and visiting the Riverboat Casinos, her passion was cooking. For everybody. The more the merrier. We will never forget her calling card, "grab a plate!" Visitation will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet.
