Obituary of Elmer Pell

Elmer F. Pell Age 96. Passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Senior Star at Weber Place in Romeoville. Born January 10, 1918 in Lockport to Henry and Olga (nee Berlin) Pell, he was a lifelong Joliet area resident. A supervisor for the United States Postal Service at the Scott Street Post Office, he retired in 1978 after 39 years of service. Member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church and the JoAnnites. A veteran of WWII, he was Chief Quartermaster with the United States Navy on the USS Memphis, USS Cormorant and the Flag Ship 7 Fleet USS Wasatch. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Frances (nee Bebar) Pell; one son, Richard E. Pell; four sisters, Ina Mae Kemp, Marjorie Anita Luebs, Genevieve French and Mary Brown; three brothers, Peter Pell, Raymond McLaughlin, and Henry Pell. Survived by his daughter, Terrie (Dominic) Orlando of Joliet; five grandchildren, Renee, Robyn, Patrick, Nicholas & Kara; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Senior Star and Angels Grace Hospice for their kind and compassionate care shown to our father and grandfather. A Memorial Mass for Elmer F. Pell will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 706 N. Broadway, Joliet. Inurnment to follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church or Angels Grace Hospice would be appreciated. No visitation.
