Lois A. Cardwell
(nee Birkey)
Age 85. At rest, Monday, April 25, 2011 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center Born in Joliet, to the late Gordon and Mary (nee Barthelme) Birkey, she was a lifelong resident. Graduate of St. Francis Academy. Lifelong member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond, and CCW. Member of Cantigny VFW Post #367 Ladies Auxiliary and Senior Citizens Association. Former member of Ladies of the Elks and Ladies of the Moose. Lois and her late husband, Orville, loved to travel.
Preceded by her loving husband of 61 years, Orville Cardwell (2006); two sons, Gary Cardwell (2011) and Ken Cardwell (2003); one brother, David Birkey.
Survived by her two daughters-in-law, Mary K. Cardwell and Barbara Cardwell, both of Joliet; six grandchildren, Chris (Lisa) Cardwell, Amy (Jeff) Englund, Aaron (Katie) Cardwell, Adam (Lisa) Cardwell, Aric and Anissa Cardwell; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, James (Diane) Birkey of Joliet; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousin, Janet Trizna, and dear friend, Mary Babich.
Funeral services for Lois A. Cardwell will be Friday, April 29, 2011 at 10:45 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials in her name to the Cathedral of St. Raymond would be appreciated. Visitation Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at:
