Obituary of Johnny Holmes

Johnny L. Holmes, Jr. Age 75, of Crest Hill, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at his home. Johnny and Rose were longtime residents of Naperville before moving to Crest Hill. Johnny served in the United States Navy and was a longtime member of Local 150 Operating Engineers. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rosemarie Holmes; son, Timothy Harrison; daughters, Tammy Mac Neil and Tessa Kluttz; brothers, Stanley E. Holmes, Ron Dillon, Jimmy Holmes and Dedric Sanders; sisters, Pam Wagner and Dona Lynn Sanders; stepmother, Elaine Jelinek; numerous greatly loved and endeared grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtis Inez Sanders; father, Johnny L. Holmes, Sr.; son, Dwayne Holmes, daughter, Anna Marie; sister, Dorothy Sue Rouse; and brother, Paul Hill. Visitation for Johnny L. Holmes, Jr. will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. At 7:00 p.m., Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Navy and a eulogy and closing prayer will be offered.
