Obituary of William McClintock
William W. McClintock, Sr.
Age 84, of Minooka, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at RML Specialty Hospital, Hinsdale, with his loving family at his side.
Born December 15, 1929 in Joliet, he was the son of Ernest and Elsie (nee McCloud) McClintock, and was raised on the family farm in Troy Township known as McClintock Acres. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1951 to 1956. Bill worked his entire life as a carpenter, first for 31 years for U. S. Steel on Collins Street in Joliet, and then for seven years at Collins Street Correctional Center.
He was a Die Hard Cubs fan and an avid sports enthusiast and gardener. He loved watching all of his grandchildren's activities and enjoyed fishing and golfing trips with his sons and grandsons. He will be remembered for his handy work remodeling many homes in the Minooka and Channahon area.
Bill was a member of Channahon United Methodist Church and a member of the church choir for 75 years.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 years, Donna (nee Chiovatero) McClintock; his children, Cathy (late Jerry) Glover of Minooka, Julie (Scott) Hellem of Evansville, MN, William W. (Diane) McClintock, Jr. of Braidwood, Lori (John) McClintock of Alexandria, MN, Roseanne (Mark) Matteson of Coal City, Patty (John) Gretz of South Wilmington, and Mark (Liza) McClintock of Clearwater, MN; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, William (Rita) Chiovatero of Minooka; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; Mary and Phil Pittman and children who were like family; and Bill and Donna's lifelong best friends, Chy and the late Art Johnson.
Preceded by his parents; one son, Jimmy McClintock (1968), one brother, Oliver (Donna) McClintock; one sister, Wilma (Jack) Schultz; and a brother-in-law, Robert (Grace) Chiovatero.
The family wishes to thank the physicians and nursing staff of Morris Hospital ICU and RML Specialty Hospital for the care and compassion.
Funeral Services for William W. McClintock, Sr. will be Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 303 W. St. Mary Street, Minooka. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Minooka. Visitation Friday, 4-8 p.m. at Channahon United Methodist Church, 24751 W. Eames , Channahon.
