Obituary of Richard Stancik

Richard E. Stancik Of Morris, died peacefully, Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in the comfort of his home, one day shy of his 79th birthday, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chicago to the late Mary (nee Spudwell) and Edward Stancik, he was raised in Chicago, a graduate of St. Rita High School where he played football. Beloved husband of 54 years to Barbara (nee Long) Stancik of Morris; Loving father of James (the late Beverly) Stancik of Frankfort, Caryn Stancik of Darien, Herb (Susan) Stancik of Oak Forest, Mary Ann (the late Jerrold) Adams of Hoopeston, IL, Nancy (Larry) Burgan of Donovan, IL and Lynn Stancik of Joliet. Devoted grandfather of Kristie Stancik, Jamie Stancik; Chelsy Gleixner; Cali Stancik; Angela Cooper and Tom Adams. Proud great-grandpa of John, Desire, Alice and Jace. Dear brother of the late Ronald (Winnie) Stancik, formerly of Oak Lawn. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Rich was the proprietor of several establishments including the Satellite Lounge and the Porterhouse Restaurant, in Bridgeview, as well as Maggie Mays in Orland Park. He was a huge Notre Dame Football fan, but his passion was spending time with his family. A proud Lithuanian, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church since he and Barbara moved to Morris 19 years ago, and a former member of St. Louis DeMontfort Parish in Oak Lawn, IL where he resided for many years. A memorial visitation will be held Monday September 22, 2014 from 4-9 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Dr. in Morris. Funeral services will begin Tuesday morning with prayers at 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private at St .
