"Bert"
Age 90. Passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Salem Village. He was born November 3, 1920 in Joliet to the late August and Maria (nee Colombini) Cassani and was a lifetime resident. A U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII, Albert, upon returning from the war, began working as a Chauffer for the Joliet Arsenal, transporting Dignitaries. He retired after nearly 30 years of service.
He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Ardis M. (nee Greene) Cassani; loving father of Marie (late Kenneth) Swearingian and Lawrence "Larry" Cassani. Dear grandfather of Jennifer (Kevin) Kantorski, Catherine (Jeff) Hoffman; Tony (Kelly) Cassani and Kate (Eric) Waldinger. Proud great grandfather of three. Also survived by Jayne Cassani and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Louis (late Irma), Richard (late Virginia), Joseph (late Ethel) Cassani and Alvera (late Raymond) Plisich.
Mr. Cassani was a lifetime parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a Eucharistic Minister, usher, money counter and an always willing optimistic volunteer whenever called upon. Bert attended Sacred Heart grade school and graduated from Joliet Township High School. A member of the Will County Threshermen's Association, the Antique Auto Club and the American Legion.
Funeral Services for Albert B. Cassani will be Monday, December 27, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Alzheimers Association. Visitation Sunday 2-6 p.m. at:
