Obituary of William Cassano SR
Cassano, William A, Sr.
Age 91, of Shorewood, and formerly of Monee and South Holland, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 17, 2012 at home. Born February 23, 1921 in Italy, he was a World War II veteran of the Marine Corps. Retired Owner and Operator of Cornell Shoe Service at 55th and Cornell in Hyde Park. Bill loved good food and sleeping was one of his favorite past-times.
Survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Phyllis (nee Calomino) Cassano; two sons, William A. (Pamela) Cassano, Jr. of Joliet and David Cassano of San Clemente, CA; three grandchildren, James (Tiffany) Cassano, Kelly (Kenneth) Maiberger and Michael Cassano; two great-grandchildren, Kai Cassano and Makayla Maiberger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his parents, Anthony and Lizette (nee Alo) Cassano; two sisters, Gloria Palermo and Vera Rossiano; a brother, Albert Cassano and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. noon at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation WEDNESDAY MORNING from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
