Haralambos Galatis, age 69, went to his heavenly eternal home peacefully, with his family by his side, in the loving home of his son. Born and raised in Kefalonia, Greece, a son of Gerasimos and Maria Galatis, he came to America at the age of 28. He worked 33 years as a banquet server at the Westin Hotel in downtown Chicago, IL. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family by making sure everyone was well fed and taken care of. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time outdoors and working in the yard. He will be so heart-fully missed by all, his loving and generous ways will carry on forever in our hearts. Survived by his loving wife, Athanasia Galatis; loving daughter, Maria Skweres and son-in-law, Chris Skweres of Minooka, IL; devoted son, Gerasimos "Jerry" Galatis of Plainfield, IL; and three very special grandchildren, Haralambos Galatis, Georgene Skweres and Steve Skweres. Also survived by his brother, Andreas (Ermioni) Galatis of Lemont, IL; four sisters, Anna, Popi, Boula, and Froso, all who reside in Greece; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his loving parents, Gerasimos and Maria Galatis. Funeral services for Haralambos Galatis will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 10301 S. Kolmar Ave., Oak Lawn, IL for services at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet, IL. Visitation Wednesday, 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Transfiguration Service at 4:30 p.m.
