Artis and I grew up together....along with her brother and sisters. It was always great....walking to Sheridan, Farragut, and then High School together, sledding in the revine, July 4th on Moose Island, taking 2 buses then walking a mile to Nowell Park to swim, rollerskating, sleeping over, trick-or-treating, walking to Sunday School and Tuxis, Easter Morning breakfasts at Willow Ave. Pres., learning to drive, double-dating, getting married, just being kids and learning to live. She was the BEST. Can't imagine what my life would have been like without her. I will always miss her.

We are deeply saddened to hear that Artis passed. Ken and all other family members are in our prayers. Artis was such a positive force in the community, and she left a remarkable imprint on Shorewood and the Troy area. May she rest in peace, and may her spirit live on through our thinking about her and trying to measure up to how she loved her community.

Your smiles, your voluntary assistance, your laughter, your conversations with me will never be forgotten for the hours we spent together at the Midwest TCA registration tables every month for five years. I should have said this sooner----thank you. Go in peace.

Artis, I will miss you very much. You have been a good friend, a close friend, and cannot be replaced. When I last visited you the week before you passed away, you made me promise that I would continue with the visits, and I will. You were like a sister, and Ken is my brother, for the hundreds of visits, calls, and emails. I will miss your baked treats.

I've lived on Ca-Crest since 1977, and Artis was already here as one of the "pioneers" on the block. Artie was always our "go-to" person. If I needed an opinion about who to cast a vote for, I trusted Artis to point me in the rght direction. Planning our block parties? Took place at Artis' house, of course. She knew every resident at every address, so we were sure not to exclude anyone from an invite. Want to hear a story? Artis didn't disappoint. My husband could get lost for hours yacking with Artis about anything and everything. Lots of talk about stained glass how-to as well as admiration of owned stained glass occurred. The talked shrubs and flowers....lilacs and roses to be exact. Artis sent me down the road of my love for antiques. She held dear the deep ruby red glass, and I always kept an eye out for a gem to bring to her. Little chidren....what can I say? Her arms were open to all of them, and they knew the screened-in porch that had the box of toys that they sure could play with. To see her picture and know she's gone, breaks my heart. Whatver will we do without her? Who will tell us where to vote or confirm rumors of police business? Who will say, "I knew him/her from the junior high" during her 30+ years there. Artis was so FULL of life that the only state left with her gone is EMPTY. Miss you sweet friend! Marcia and Mike

I have know Artis & her large family since she & I were in 3rd grade. The Moore home was always open, the Moore hearts were open & enveloping. Artis carried on the heritage all her active, vital life. Words cannot convey the vast love she had for people. She cared for her extended family. She cared for her community with active dedication, especially the Shorewood Library Board. She cared for her classmates, being so very active with our HS Reunion committee. Her absence leaves a void unimaginable. Carry on with warm loving memories unending. Love, jac
