Robert G. Dickey
"Bob"
Age 80, of Marseilles and formerly Joliet, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the Ottawa Pavilion. He was born and raised in Mattoon, IL and had resided in Joliet most of his adult years until moving to Marseilles 18 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1958.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Norma Jean (nee Lee) Dickey of Marseilles; loving step-father of Raymond Leadingham of Marseilles, John (Sonia) Leadingham of Marseilles and Donnie (Vickey) Leadingham of Sheridan, IL. Dearest "Papa" of Nicole (Ratha), Christopher (Ashley), Emma and Travis. Proud "Great-Papa" of Jessica, Jonathan, Kendall, Paislee and Max. Dear brother-in-law of Ray (Joyce) Lee and Sandy (Jerry) Popplewell. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.
Bob retired from Brockway Plastics of Rockdale, IL when it closed. He then began working at Cub Foods in Joliet in maintenance. In his younger years, he was a Prison Guard at Stateville Correctional Center. A lifelong St. Louis Cardinals Fan, he also enjoyed reading, crime documentary's and old time radio and movies.
Funeral services for Robert G. Dickey will be held Saturday December 27, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet. Visitation Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the services begin. For information (815) 942-5040
