Obituary of Darrell Calkins

Darrell E. Calkins Age 80, of Joliet, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center emergency room. Born January 15, 1935 in Grayville, IL to Alvin and Beatrice Calkins. He served bravely with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. Darrell was a graduate of DeVry University and retired from Amoco Chemical with over 30 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and a die hard Cub Fan. Survived by his devoted sons, Steve (Marcela) Calkins of Crest Hill, Greg (Jill) Calkins of Joliet and Mark (late Darlene) Calkins of Arkansas; beloved grandfather of J.P. (Grace) Calkins, Valerie (Vince) McClennahan, Kyle Calkins, Korey (Alli) Calkins, Kevin Calkins and Tracy Calkins; and dear great-grandfather of Victoria and Vivienne McClennahan, Rhianna and Becky Calkins and Miranda Calkins. Preceded by his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty M. (nee Splittorff) Calkins (September 15, 2013); his parents; and one sister, Wanda Sweatt. Funeral Services for Darrell Calkins will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet, IL.
