The best times of my life was when we would go to concerts together. We always had the best time...so much fun. You made me forget about any problems I might have been facing at the time...made me feel so happy & special. I will always remember those nights...I carry that joy within my heart every day of my life. I just wish I had been part of your life these last few years....that is the only regret I have...that the truth I dared speak made me an outcast..but I know that you now also know the truth and maybe can understand why I did what I did. I love you and hope you still love me too. Miss you more than words can say!!

Words cannot describe the pain and loss I am feeling without you. I pray that one day we will understand God's will. I will miss you immensely and look forward to the day we meet again, for my heart to be whole again. I know I always told you, but you have no idea how much you were truly loved. My heart breaks all over again, each morning I open my eyes and once again realize that you're not here. Take care of each other up there & I know you will always be watching over us down here. Once we are all united again, God's gonna be sorry because it's gonna be one heck of a party!! I love you my brother!!!

It hurts so much since you have left us, oh how I miss your phone calls and your text messages. I recall our last conversation on Superbowl Sunday and you asked me if Ray was gonna watch the Superbowl and I said, "No." And then you said, "What, not even to watch Katie Perry at half time?" And then we both started to laugh. I never knew you liked Katie Perry until that day when you mentioned it. You were the best a brother a sister could ever ask for. You always put yourself before others no matter how tired you were. You just worked so hard to provide for your family; you were the best father, brother, friend, husband, uncle that anyone could ever ask for. I just want to thank you for always being there for me and being so wonderful to me. I will always cherish the last text message you sent me. But I just want you to know that I was the one that was blessed to have you as my brother and to have you in my life. Rest In Peace Derek. I love and miss you so much.

Got up extra early today because I'm attending my dear friend's funeral. Too many emotions racing thru my mind. Thought if I tried to express what I'm feeling in my heart I could somehow get thru this final opportunity to publicly say goodbye. So I'm looking around my house at the few little things Derek was going to eventually fix for me...........and I'm not upset whatsoever because I know they're not gonna get repaired------but rather I'm really, really MAD that my dear friend Derek won't be walking thru my door to do them. He always walked me out to the empty parking lot to my car at 1am when I got off my shift. Now I absolutely hate walking out to my car alone. It just seems IMPOSSIBLE that Derek will never again caringly escort me out to my car as I'm busy chattering on about what happened during that night during my shift. But I have to believe.........we ALL must believe.......that we're never walking alone......I somehow must believe that Derek is right by our side........quietly accompanying us as we journey on each day without his physical self present. Last night during his wake I met his beautiful, big family. I thank them with all my heart, especially his wife Desiree, for sharing Derek with us. And when I met his 3 sons it only confirmed what I already knew to be true. A caring individual such as Derek could only produce sons of similar character and integrity. They have a rugged road ahead but I believe their father gave them the emotional tools to deal with such a difficult challenge. Today is not goodbye, Derek........it's T......B.....C........(to.....be......continued).....in our thoughts, in our hearts, in our dreams, in all the little things we see or hear that trigger sweet memories of you. You finally get to chill-ax a spell.......WE'RE the ones that have the difficult job of moving on without you. But all the heartache ahead is totally worth the privilege and gift of having had YOU in our lives. Rest well, dear Derek.......u soooooo deserve it.

We love you Uncle Derek and will miss you dearly. Our prayers go out to you Ryan , Anthony and Alex during this unfortunate time. May God give you the same strength today that he provided your father throughout his life as the hard working man he was on earth. Remember he will always be watching over you. RIP Uncle Derek.

I met Derek working, along side of him, at Dominick's. There were many times work was overbearing, but he always seem to find a comical way to make the night crew laugh and make work enjoyable. He also found time to lend a hand with, not only my car problems, but other friends as well. He was a hard worker and will truely be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers to your family.

He Only Takes the Best
God saw that he was getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
and whispered, "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes "the best".

Derek was a shy, quiet and friendly young man. He valued and honored his wedding vowels to his wife Desiree whom he loved. He was a dedicated and loving Father to his sons Ryan, Anthony and Alex. He was a hard working man and provided for his family well. He was a man who helped out who ever asked him for help with something they needed help with. My thoughts and Prayers are with his entire family. May he RIP.

Derek,
Was one of the few people I called a friend. I know many people but call very few friends. He always did car repairs for me. We met at Dominick's and he always spoke of his wife and sons. I will miss him very much. My thoughts and prayers to his loving family,

MA asideWellwonderful brother & I are only 13 months apart,do as u can imagine we did get into our mischief together always in "cahoots." Just to run an example, when we were kids my mom took us to"weibolts"(not sure if any of u youngns prior even know wat that was,it was a dept. store my mom loved to shop. Well as being curious & young ourselves, managed to find 2 ( 1 for each of us to investigate) right under the escalators. We wanted to see "how they world" so he has the great idea that on the count of 3 We'd BOTH press the illimnuted buttons, & being I'm going against my brother (a boy)I don't DARE chicken out. So on the count of 3... We both pressed. It immediately froze BOTH escalators in their tracks, up & down.We both got so scared, of course people had to resort to "walking up & down" the otherwise moving escalators until we got our lil hands on them. As u probably guessed if u knew my mother, we got the "Ib can't take u Kids anywhere w/out u finding something of mischief" all the way home. I always kept that in my memory bank & I had asked him one day do u remember when... He smirked and said yea,I remember. We've became closer again regardless the long residential distance between us but I do thank our wonderful Father above that I did have the recent opportunity to tell my brother Derek exactly how precious he is to me & all he meant to me, add a wonderful, non biased, nevr judgemental, truly unconditional perfect love as would always tell but most of all he demonstrated true love me & all whom he loved. I'm gonna truly miss his near perfect gift of love which the bible says to have for one another of the world. He was DEFINITELY WAS ONE OF A KIND AND ILL GOING MISS HIM EVERYDAY FOR THE REST OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. "PRIVATE JOKE> I KNOW UR BIGGER THEN ME BUT I'M STILL OLDER SISTER SO U HAVE TO LISTEN TO ME !!! But all jokes aside AMAZING HUSBAND,FATHER,SON,BROTHER,UNCLE,COUSIN U will very painfully ( on our part to be so thoroughly missed & never ever forgotten. I love u lil brother.Ur hard labor is finally complete. I'm very confident the Lord above will tell him,"WELL DONE GOOD AHS FAITHFUL SERVANT!!!

Derek,
Words cannot express how sad we are to lose you at such a young age. Our hearts are broken not only for all of the family, and your wife, but especially for your three sons who idolized you for being the best parent that you were. You were always the best baby brother anyone could ask for and such a hard working, dedicated man. It is going to be so diffcult for this entire family to live without you. I love you so much and pray now that you are at peace and welcomed by all our family members who are greeting you in heaven.
I have many happy memories of you when we were younger and growing up with my children. You were an angel on earth and will forever be an angel in our hearts.
Love,
Lynne, Dave and Family

We played together as children, got in mischief together as teens, and became parents together at about the same age. We shared a whole lifetime together and we will miss you so very much. But you have so many angels to look over you now as I know you will look over all of us. Rest in Peace, Derek.
