Obituary of Herbert Perozzi

Herbert L. Perozzi "Herb" Age 76, of Joliet, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his family at his side. Born August 31, 1938 in Chicago Heights, IL, he was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Herb retired as a Process Supervisor after 28 years of service from Uno-Ven where he was known by everyone and was well liked by coworkers. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling, gardening, adopting rescue dogs, and following the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Surviving are his beloved wife, Verna Lynn (nee Meiferdt) (Riggen) Perozzi of Joliet; his sons, Herbert L. (Robin) Perozzi, Jr. of Flower Mound, TX, Lyle A. (Julie) Riggen of Dwight, IL, and Matthew E. Riggen of Darrington, WA; two grandsons, Jonathan and Christopher Perozzi; his brothers and sisters, James "Sonny" Perozzi of Joliet, Mary Rita "Te-Ti" (Shelby) Freeman of Largo, FL, David (Carol) Perozzi of Olympia Fields, IL, William (Judy) Stickels of Elwood, and Nancy (Hector) Gonzalez of Joliet; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companions, Ginger and Tawny. Preceded by his father, James Vincent Perozzi; his mother, Nina Katryn (nee Kegley) Stickels; and two brothers, Joseph Perozzi and Bradley Stickels. A Memorial Visitation for Herb Perozzi will be held Friday, February 20, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Cremation rites have been accorded and entombment of his urn will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Will County Humane Society would be appreciated.
