Obituary of Rosemary Wawroski

Rosemarie A. Wawroski (nee Trzebiatowski) Age 87, late of Plainfield, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 20, 2015 in Pompano Beach, FL. Born October 7, 1927 in Amherst, WI, she was the daughter of Henry and Susie (nee Wierzba) Trzebiatowski. They lived on a farm there until she was nine years old. Due to the depression, they moved to Chicago where there was more available work. Lived in Chicago until 1953, when she, her husband and their 3 children were able to buy a home in what was then part of unincorporated Stickney Township, now the city of Burbank, IL. She lived in that house until 2004, when she sold to a developer and moved in with John and Joan in Plainfield, IL where she currently resides. For the past ten years, she has spent 4 to 5 months in Parkland, FL as a "snowbird". Jean and Pete have a condo there and up until 2013 she would typically stay there herself. Rosemarie quit school in her junior year of high school to help the family financially. She was a factory worker for Rit, and worked at the main Post Office in downtown Chicago during the war when most of the men were in the service. When the war ended, she went on to work for Crane Co. and General Scientific, and retired from Clements in 1991 after many years of hard work. She was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Church, Plainfield, and a former member of the Moose Lodge, and St. Fabian Ladies and Senior Club in Bridgeview, IL, until moving to Plainfield. Rosemarie bowled on several leagues, ending with a senior bowling league at El-Mar Bowl in Bridgeview, IL in 2003. During retirement she has been a voracious reader enjoying her favorite authors John Grisham and Janet Evanovich, the daily newspaper, and several magazine subscriptions. She loved to garden and belonged to several garden clubs in years past. She loved all types and colors of flowers and could start plants from cuttings. Her favorite flowers were orchids and tropicals, which had to be brought in each winter. She was very proud of her lawn and mowed her own grass for many years on her 90x110' lot. Survivors include her children, Jean (Pete) Astarbi of Staten Island, NY, Alan (Harriet "Cis") Wawroski of Spokane, WA, Joan (John) Jordal of Plainfield, IL, and her #3 daughter, Juanita; her grandchildren, Christopher Wawroski, Peter (Jennifer) Astarbi, Julie (Andrew) Garofalo, James(Stephanie) Astarbi; step-grandmother to the Jordal, Singer and Logeland families; "adopted" grandmother to the Garofalo brothers; great-grandchildren, John, Sofia, Christina, Peter, Gennifer, David, Angelica, and two expected within the next six months; great-great-grandmother to eight; sisters, Henrietta (and William) Kelly, Nathalie Haran, Margaret (Doug) Klein, and Susan Proskey; many nieces and nephews; and best friend of 50 years, Rita Conetzkey. Preceded by her parents; brother, Gerald Trzebiatowski; sisters, Bernadette DeAngeles and Theresa Mueller; and grandsons, Paul Astarbi and Laurence Wawroski. Visitation for Rosemarie Wawroski will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Prior to the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Plainfield, for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Risen Lord Cemetery will take place Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. Memorials in her name to any Veteran's organization would be appreciated.
