"Stormin' Norman"
Age 88. At rest Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Chicago to the late Napolean and Alice (Burke) Surprenant. Living in Shorewood since 2006. A WWII U.S. Air Force veteran. Member of the Shorewood Glen Veteran's Group. Norman enjoyed gardening, ceramics, cooking and the game of golf.
Survived are three children, Paul (Phyllis) Surprenant of Crown Point, IN, Linda Surprenant of Shorewood and Lauren (Richard) Abele of Naperville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Nancy) Surprenant of Alsip; one sister, Gail (Keith) Rasmussen of Oak Forest; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his loving wife, Marie (Russell) Surprenant (1990); one brother, Gerald Surprenant; two sisters, Jean Squires and Shirley Burns.
Funeral Services for Norman F. Surprenant will be Monday, March 23, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or American Diabetes Association would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday, 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. For more information: (815) 741-5500.
