Alyce J. Christopher
(nee Rodman)
Age 86. Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Born in Joliet to the late Stephen and Mary (Stimac) Rodman. She was a lifelong Joliet area resident. A graduate of St. Mary Nativity and St. Francis Academy, where she won a blue ribbon for a story that she wrote on the month of May, which was published in the Tower Magazine. She participated in post graduate studies at Providence. Retired from the Checking Bureau as secretary after 17 years of service. Formerly employed at Hair Restoring Clinic on Lake Street in Oak Park, IL. She was also employed for many years at the House of Charm which was owned by her father, Stephen Rodman. Former member of the Jo-Annites and the Altar & Rosary Society of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Christopher (1986) and second husband, Eugene Horwath (2006); her parents, one brother, Fred; and her five uncles, Attorney Emil Stimac, Ralph and Edward Stimac; David and Jacob Rodman; two aunts, Ann Stimac and Dorothea Helbig.
Survived by two nieces, Judy and Shirley Christopher both of Joliet; and one brother-in-law.
Funeral Services for Alyce J. Christopher will be Tuesday October 7, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary Nativity Cemetery. A special thank you to her caregivers, Leona Christopher, Thelma Dunnigan, Betty Riley, Maxine White and the staff of Deerbrook Care Center and Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home.
