Obituary of Theresa Georgantas

Theresa M. Georgantas (nee Mandel) Age 85. Passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 17, 2015 with her family by her side. Theresa was born and raised in Joliet, IL. A 1947 graduate of Providence Catholic High School. She worked for St. Joseph Hospital and Public Service Company. She was married for 54 years to the late Clarence "Teak" Georgantas, former owner of Georgantas Jewelers of Shorewood. A member of Holy Family Parish. Survived by her four sons, Gregg "Storm" (Donna) of Channahon, Mark of Las Vegas, NV, Frank of Crest Hill and Charles "Chuck" Georgantas, also of Crest Hill; one daughter, Clare Terese "CT" Georgantas of Chicago; five grandchildren, Tara, Alex, Behron, Macey and Ainslie; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Madison; one sister, Dolores (late Leo) Lange; two brothers, Robert (Ann) Mandel and Dr. James (Teresa Hurst) Mandel; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Julia Mandel; her husband, Clarence "Teak" Georgantas; two sisters, Shirley (Robert) Lambert and Lillian (late Richard) Moruzi; and one brother, Frank Mandel. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Kishor Ajmere for his excellent medical care and personal friendship they had developed through the years. They would also like to acknowledge the professionalism and care received from Joliet Area Community Hospice and Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Thank you to family and friends for their love and support during this past month. Funeral Services for Theresa M. Georgantas will be Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet to Holy Family Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Cornerstone Services would be appreciated. Visitation THURSDAY MORNING, 8:30 a.m. until time of services at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
