Age 91. At rest Monday, October 26, 2015 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Manhattan, IL to Maurice and Mary (nee Kavanaugh) Gallagher.
Gerry enjoyed traveling, boating and spending time with his family. A lifelong Cubs fan. Gerry proudly served his country during WWII as a Technical Sergeant, Army Air Corp. He was in the European Theater and did 30 missions. Retired from Material Service in 1987 with 40 years of service.
Survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Geraldine (nee Green); three sons, Thomas (Jane), Dr. Gary (Dr. Karen) and Dr. Kevin (Vicki); five grandchildren, Melissa Gallagher, Nicholette (Brian) Varley, Erica (Jason) Burke, Ryland and Delaney Gallagher; great-grandchildren, Fallon, David, Nicholas, Oliver, Delilah, Mason and Gabriella.
Preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and three sisters.
Funeral Services for Gerald Gallagher will be held Friday, October 30, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to the Cathedral of St. Raymond for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the United States Air Force.
