Howard L. Vieweg, Jr.
Age 89, at rest with the Lord on November 9, 2015 in Crest Hill, IL. A World War II veteran, serving on aircraft carrier, USS Cowpen. Retired from Blockson/Olin Chemical Company after 36 years. Member of Olin Retirees Club. Member and Past Exalted Ruler (1991-1992) of Joliet Elks Lodge 296. Fifty Year and Life Member of Matteson Lodge #175 A.F. & A.M. Former member of VFW Post 367 of Joliet and Member of American Legion Post 5 of Joliet. Previous member of First United Methodist Church of Sun City, AZ. Served on the Pastor Parish Board, Worship Committee and was Head Usher. Past President of Thunder Bird Men's Bowling League in Sun City, AZ.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (Pelton) Vieweg in 1954; his wife, Carolyn (Waldron) Vieweg in 2004; and wife, Dorothy A. (Collins) Vieweg in 2008.
Survived by his three daughters, Susan A. & Tabitha V. Vieweg of Romeoville, IL and Deborah E. (John N.) Honiotes of Shorewood, IL; two granddaughters, Heather (Tom) Leffers of Utica, IL and Stephanie (Michael) Vangelisti of Rockdale, IL; one grandson, Nicholas J. (Kristin) Honiotes of San Tan Valley, AZ; four great-granddaughters, Kylie Marie & Abigail Elaine Honiotes of San Tan Valley, AZ, Nina Marie Leffers of Utica, IL and Dorothy Frances Vangelisti of Rockdale, IL; great-grandson John Nicholas Honiotes II of San Tan Valley, AZ and Nathan Preston Leffers of Utica, IL; step-great-grandson, Colton Leffers of Fort Collins, CO; longtime friends, John and Alice LaClaire of Sun City, AZ and Eleanor Carpenter of Boise, ID.
The family would like to express their gratitude to R.W. Schubert, MD and his office along with the staff at The Inn of Willow Falls for the excellent care of their father/grandfather over the past seven years.
Funeral Services for Howard L. Vieweg, Jr. will be held Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Pastors John McDavitt and Dennis Taylor officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park II. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to The Rock Community Church, P.O. Box 8574, Romeoville, IL 60446 or Lakeside Worship Center, 22027 W. Miller Ct., Plainfield, IL 60545 would be appreciated.
