There's not one day I think about you dad. I wish I had more time to spend wit you. It was way to early to lose you. Even though we had our ups and downs I wouldn't ask for another father. From time to time I look through the family album when you were still married to mom. I wish you were still here with us. Mom misses you alot. Within time I know I'll be seeing you again.

Your Time in the World was but a Brief Moment, the Glint of a Crashing Cymbal, the Thrumming Beat of a Bass Drum, yet Those whom You have Touched will Hear You and Feel Your Rhythm Forever. Peace Grasshopper

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear. With the whistle faintly in the background on the midnight freight and the last song is played, Bam Bam is with us all to stay.

I knew you for 22 yrs, and I really didn't get to know you until recently. I feel like I lost my best friend, it's like someone kicked me in the stomach. I enjoyed running to hobby shops with you and no one will ever replace that.I thought it was funny on Christmas Eve, when I asked you if I should make extra you said "no I'm not a big eater. Then you ate 3 pork chops, 2 helpings of noodles and 3 helpings of vegetables. I will always remember you and any time I hear a thunder storm, I'm gonna think of you bangin on your drums and driving everyone up there with you nuts. R.I.P

Bob, I cannot think of my time at the train club without thinking of you. You were the most clumsy cantankerous stubborn drunken cursing bad-tempered d*****t ever to slam a switcher down onto the layout in disgust, and I loved you for it like you were my twin brother. I've often daydreamed of returning to the club one night and surprising you just to hear you curse me out, but now I know I can never do that and it hurts. I shall never forget you.

I knew Bob as a passionate model railroader, and a passionate drummer. He was my introduction to the Garfield-Clarendon Model Railroad Club, and we quickly became friends. I had accompanied a group of North Suburban model railroaders I knew to an operating session hosted by the GCMRR Club. I had no experience with model railroad operations, being new to the hobby, but Bob took me into Georgetown Yard with him where I ran one of his locomotives and switched cars around while he gave instructions and threw the turnouts. It was a lot of fun, and I applied for membership soon afterward.
Bob introduced me to hobby shops around Chicago and helped my buy my first two locomotives. He taught me about landscaping, installing Kadee couplers, installing decoders, how to work the club's layout, which brands of equipment to buy, and so much more. He was extremely generous with his time, knowledge, experience, tools, trains, etc., not only for the club, but also for other members and even visitors who stopped in to see what we were up to. He felt great responsibility for keeping the layout in top working condition, and he was always available to help with any project.
He enjoyed talking trains and life with club members at regular fellowship gatherings at Resi's Bierstube after club meetings or mid-week work sessions. His July 4 barbecues were an event not to be missed. The food, company, and fireworks were a highlight of the Summer.
I enjoyed watching Bob play drums. He was amazing...terrific. When The Amoreys performed, Bob's solo turn was dramatic, with vigorous attacks on the floor tom and vicious uppercuts to the crash cymbals among his signature moves. His drumsticks bore many scars of his artistry.
After I learned of his passing, I wondered if we splashed some Jameson's on him he'd rise back up, as told in the story of Tim Finnegan's wake, and be his old self again. Sadly, that was not to happen. He's gone. He was a good friend, and I will miss him. Rest in peace.

Bob was an imposing figure, but once you got to know him he was a gentle man, who would have your back forever. He was welcoming to all who came to visit the Garfield Clarendon Model Railroad Club, and would show people the layout and run trains with them. Around the club we could always count on Bob to do the work that needed to be done, even as his health and coordination failed. He will be missed. There is an empty space in the Georgetown yard where you could find him on most Friday nights, and it will not be filled soon.

Uncle Rob, you left us way too soon. I always looked up to you because I was amazed by the train set up you had at the train club and I remember seeing you play the drums and how awesome you sounded! You are truly going to missed but I know you are up in heaven driving grandma and great grandma nuts with pounding on the drums. I will never forget you! Love you Uncle Rob.

Rob was the best drummer I have ever heard or seen. He had such a God-given talent with music and I know the music helped him cope with the things in his life that were not so great, it was his escape. I loved him back in the day and I am sad knowing I will never get to see him again. I know he is happy now, free of any pain or sadness, jamming up in Heaven & keeping Marcia, Big George, and Grandma Ivy company and that makes me smile.

Bob,
You were a very vibrant member of The Garfield-Clarendon Model Railroad Club for many years. Your enthusiasm for trains was contagious and you were always willing to mentor new members or inquiring visitors. Wanting to help in any way that you could, you always were the first one to volunteer for jobs that need to be done, or lend your expertise. Over time you became the heart and soul of the Club --You will be sorely missed --the Club will not be the same without you! Bev, Dave, Wes & Marc Urschel

You really left your mark on this world Rob (I told you so!) I will treasure our wonderful memories, like our trips to the farm playing on the tire swing feeding the cows and ice skating in the qaury. We had a pretty good childhood, living in the same house all those years with the lake which meant a place to boat, swim, fish, in the winter ice skate and we learned to ice fish there.I'm so grateful that I could go on and on with all of our memories. After all the ups and downs I never thought loosing you would hurt this bad. I guess every family has there bad times, I have to pull the good memories to the top. I love you Robbie! RIP

The Amoreys posted a condolence

If your life is blessed to know and experience the joy of working with and sharing time and space with a true eccentric and original musician you will understand what it means when they go. It broke the heart of every Amorey when we heard of the transition of our beloved Robert “Bam Bam” Lindt. The drummer is the heart and heartbeat of every band and their ability determines the limitations or heights the band can reach. Playing with Bam Bam was joyous – It was freakishly solid and yet always playful, surprising and exciting. He was amazingly skilled having played from an early age and having received instruction from some of the swing eras best. His fundamentals were rock solid and he had forgotten more than most drummers will ever know. When he took one of his signature solos it was jaw droppingly good and afterwards there were usually aspiring drummers asking for lessons. He could literally do it all and would have found sessions work in a just world. Bam Bam held court in many bands over the years including Son Seals and Lefty Dizz Blues Bands, but it is safe to say he found his real home and love with The Amoreys. We were a match made in heaven. The first time we heard and saw Bam Bam at the Winds Café over ten years ago we made up our minds to have him. He was the guy for us. We never looked back. Part of the magic was the guy would never fit in with any group but the Amoreys. He drove us crazy and that was the aesthetic we were going for. He took it way beyond the comfort level of musicians who fancied themselves romantic idols. He blew up the whole glamor of it all with a loveable anarchistic rough tough Chicago personal style. Hip Hop artists who heard him wanted to record with him. Other bands tried to steal him. Truth be told they 1. Couldn’t have handled him and 2. Didn’t deserve him. Bam Bam was full on nuts! Not stupid – Nuts! His persona was full of humor and generosity. He loved playing and it always showed. He brought people joy and they realized what they heard and saw was unique and amazing. It happened to the young and old and at its finest moments. like when we played in New Diggins 170 year old saloon in Wisconsin, it would bring the house down then shake it to the foundation. Bam Bam’s whole identity was tied up in playing drums. When his abilities became impaired by illness we determined to work when he felt up to it. Just before he passed he called to tell us his plans for Christmas Day. He was looking forward to resuming in 2016. We are quite sure he is tearing it up in some lucky combo somewhere in the stars. We earth bound Amoreys and all his friends know he was one of a kind and feel lucky to have known and played with him. R.I.P. , brother. We loved you.
