Sister Mary Ann Creely, OSF Sister Mary Ann Creely, OSF (1933 - 2010) died in Columbus, Ohio, on March 17, 2010. Born in Chicago, IL, she was one of eight daughters born to Thomas and Rose (Franc) Creely. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Rosemary Ahrens, Anna Creely and Joan Graham. She is survived by her sisters, Loretta Creely (Joliet, IL), Patricia Varney (Necedah, WI), Lucille McCann (Dana Point, CA) and Margaret Houston (Crest Hill, IL). Sister Mary Ann was a treasured member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate (Joliet) for 61 years. Before entering religious life, Sister Mary Ann was a member of St. Pascal Parish in Chicago, IL. She attended St. Pascal Grade School in Chicago and St. Francis Academy (Joliet Catholic Academy), Joliet, IL. Sister Mary Ann earned a BA degree from the College of St. Francis (University of St. Francis) and her Master's degree at DePaul University, Chicago. Sister Mary Ann began her teaching ministry at Sacred Heart School in Englewood, IL, and then taught at Sacred Heart School in Winnetka, IL. After teaching five years at St. Mary Magdalene School in Columbus, OH, she became the first principal of St. Stephen the Martyr School in Columbus. She also taught at schools in Colorado and Illinois. In 1973 she returned to the Columbus Diocese where she served in Pastoral Ministry to various parishes including the Perry County Consortium of Catholic Parishes, as well as, St. Cecilia, Holy Spirit, St. Anthony, Holy Family and St. Stephen Parishes in the City of Columbus. The wake for Sister Mary Ann will be at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL, (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Sunday, March 21, 2010, from 2:00 - 6:45 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will leave from Our Lady of Angels on Monday morning, March 22, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. The Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
