Obituary of Daniel Altiery
Daniel A. Altiery
Age 89. Peacefully Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Joliet, he was a lifelong Joliet resident. A WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving with the European theater as a tech Sergeant. A lifelong member of V.F.W. Cantigny Post, #367. Retired in 1977 after 34 years of service from the U.S. Steel Corporation. He was a lifelong member of S.O.A.R and a parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Dan thoroughly enjoyed fishing, gardening, and his family. He was a wonderful, loving husband and father, and will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Marianne Altiery; four brothers, Salvatore, Ricardo, Anthony, and James Altiery; three sisters, Rose Nave, Antoinette Ortega, and Mary Meyers; and one grandson, Dean Altiery.
Survived by his loving wife, Frances J. (nee Lesh) Altiery of Joliet; two sons, Daniel R. (Debra) Altiery of Braidwood, and Eugene B. (Sandra) Altiery of Braidwood; one daughter, Ellen K. McCleary of Brunswick, GA; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services for Daniel A. Altiery will be Monday, May 24, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Provena St. Joseph Medical Center would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 2-6 p.m. at:
