Obituary of Michael Cushing

Michael J. Cushing Age 55, of Joliet, died peacefully surrounded by his family, Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home after a courageous battle with cancer. Preceded by his parents, Milfred J. and Lucille (nee Hoffmeyer) Cushing, and his sister, Carol. Survived by his siblings, Bill, Patricia (Greg) Lafeldt, Paul (Cathy), Mary Beth (Angelo) DeAngelis, Joan (Rich) Thompson, Rich (Teresa), and Dan (Patty). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mike was born January 8, 1955 and was a lifelong Joliet resident. He took pride in the work he did for 26 years as a carpet installer. Mike touched many hearts and loved all "straight from the ticker". He was always quick to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The family would like to thank his doctors and the staff of CICU, the oncology unit, the Hospice Home, and especially the staff at St. Theresa Cancer Care Center who treated Mike with respect, kindness and compassion. Funeral services for Michael Cushing will be held Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Plainfield, for Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. A private graveside service will follow at a later date.
