Obituary of Wendell A. Tillmann
Wendell A. Tillmann
Age 75. Peacefully Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. Born in Croatia, a longtime Hickory Hills resident and Shorewood resident for the past 10 years. He was a proud U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. Retired from Sweetheart Cup as a Field Engineer after over 40 years of service. Wendell was a former football and baseball coach for the St. Patricia Football and Hickory Hills youth baseball organizations. Some of his favorite past time was spending time with his family and friends and working in his garden. He was a longtime northsider and a committed faithful Cubs fan.
Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Maria (nee Stanek) Tillmann of Shorewood; one son, Jim (Mary) Tillmann of Plainfield; two daughters, Elizabeth (Rocco) Muscia of Colorado and Susan (Scott) McKay of St. Charles; and 5 grandchildren, Alizabeth, Stephanie, Michael, Teresa, and Donavan. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Preceded by his parents and two brothers, Joseph Tillmann and Stefan Tillmann.
Funeral Services for Wendell A. Tillmann will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet Fr. Dennis Paul officiating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded under the auspices of the United States Army.
