Age 39. Suddenly Tuesday, February 22, 2011 as the result of an apparent heart attack. Born in Chicago and raised in Bolingbrook, he was a Joliet resident for the past 16 years. A dedicated City of Joliet Police Officer for the past 16 years. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially when he had the chance to go fishing or bowling.
Preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Dietz; and his brother, David Dietz.
Survived by his beloved fiancee, Jessie Reiter of Joliet; his father, Charles Dietz of Lytle, TX; two brothers, Charles (Joannie) Dietz of Rockdale, and Michael Dietz of Plainfield; three sisters, Lorie (David) Barrett of Lytle, TX, Susan (Christopher) Martens of Romeoville, IL and Tracy (Luke) Capocy of Lytle, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his faithful canine companion, Duke.
Funeral Services for James B. Dietz will be Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Fr. Chris Groh, Joliet Police Department Chaplain, officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Justice. Visitation Monday 2-9 p.m. at:
