Obituary of Buzz Dinoffria

Dinoffria, Buzz Age 76, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Born June 6, 1934 in Joliet to the late Rose (Cleary) and Harry Dinoffria, he was a lifetime resident. A US Army Veteran, Buzz was a retired educator, serving both the Joliet Public School District as well as Joliet Junior College. Beloved husband of Barbara (Smego); loving father of Nicholas and stepfather of Renee Cardwell, Daniel Cardwell and Matthew Fry; fond grandfather of seven grandchildren; loving brother of John "Jack" Dinoffri and James "Dino" Dinoffria; dear brother-in-law of Carol (Sam) Brandolino and Robert J. Smego, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rosemary Miles; mother and father-in-law, Martha Smego and Robert J. Smego, Sr.; and two sisters-in-law, Natalie Dinoffri and Sandy Smego. Buzz graduated from Joliet Catholic High, received a Bachelor degree from Bradley University, and a Masters degree from Northern Illinois University. He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed walking. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of St. Anthony, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
