Orval L. Eakins
Age 89, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, at his home. He was born on May 16, 1928, in Davis County, Iowa, to the late Ira D. and Ida May (nee Flemming) Eakins. Orval was a great mechanic and an advocate for local Mechanic Union #701. He enjoyed reading, watching classic movies, traveling, and in his younger years, motorcycling throughout the country. Orval was always willing to give anyone a helping hand. His favorite past time was spending time with his buddy and faithful canine companion, Shotzy.
Orval is survived by his children, Ron (Deb) Allen, Toni-Lee Eakins, Debra Jones, Barbie (Pat) Hannon, Randy Eakins, Jeff Allen, John (Christine) Allen, Michelle (Russell) Boudria, Andrea (Keith) Lederer; 17 grandchildren; and was the great grandfather of many.
He was preceded by his wife, Lucille K. Eakins (March 28, 2008); his parents; and five siblings.
Visitation for Orval L. Eakins will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of eulogies and family memories at 6:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army.
