Jim K. Kappas
Jim K. Kappas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21st, 2018, at Meadowbrook Manor of Naperville, after living in Joliet, IL, much of his adult life. Born in Kapsia, Tripoli, Greece, he served in the Greek Army before immigrating to the United States. He worked in various factory jobs while attending Joliet Junior College, for culinary arts training, and was employed by Hilton Hotels for 25 years before retiring. He loved to read, stay active and stay fit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Konstantinos and Sophia Kapogiannis and his loving siblings, George, Engelo, Panagiota, Miltiadis, and Evangelia.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Anastasia, in Greece and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Jim Kappas will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 N. Broadway St., Joliet, where visitation will occur from 9:15 a.m. until services begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Joliet. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Fred C. Dames Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
