Sincere condolences to all of the Gordon family for the loss of Tom Gordon. Tom is my first cousin as his mom Helen (Benos) Gordon was my dad Nick's sister. I really did not see much of Tom in recent years but in our youth our families all grew up in the Chicago neighborhood of Pullman and we all lived within a few city blocks of one another. Those were the days when we all would play, visit and gather for dinners almost on a weekly basis. I have nothing but fond memories of Tom or "Tommy" as he was known. I especially remember that in the summer months I would occasionally help him with his paper route in exchange for a pack of bubble gum with baseball cards inside. He also somehow sold my mom a twelve volume set of Encyclopedia's and umteen times fixed the loose chain on my bike; together we would go up to the I.C. tracks to gather railroad ties for burning in the furnace, we played basketball at Palmer Park and many times sat through a Saturday at the State Theater watching a day of unlimited western movies with cousin Tony who also lived nearby. I could ramble on about many more fond memories with youthful Tom but I can best say that I remember him as one of best friends. R.I.P.

Mr. Gordon “The Greek”—was a wonderful man who I will dearly miss. He would visit my store to occasionally buy a case of beer but many times he would simply visit to talk. I truely enjoyed his company— he gave me his friendship. He was a Cub fan and I’m a Sox fan and he was a Bear fan and I’m a Packer fan but we had a common friendship. His stories made me laugh and I really enjoyed seeing him and spending time with him. I will miss him. I will be out of town the day of the service. Careen and family please accept my condolences. Your dad was a wonderful man.
