Obituary of Duane Dale "Hot Dog" LaVarier
"Hot Dog"
Age 57, peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Morris Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Morris, a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Morris Community High School Class of 1980. “Hot Dog” was the owner and operator of the “Wasted Rock Ranger” Disc Jockey Service where he could be found all over the region doing what he loved most. He was formerly employed at Alcoa Aluminum Manufacturing. “Hot Dog” loved life, he was at his best when he was surrounded by people having a good time, playing great music. His greatest love in life was spending time with family and friends.
Preceded by his mother, Anna (nee Rusch) LaVarier and step-brother, Gary McMillin.
Survived by his father, Ralph LaVarier, Jr. and his step-mother, Mary LaVarier both of O’Dell, IL; two brothers, Douglas (Janet) LaVarier of Blackstone, IL and Daniel (Beth) LaVarier of San Diego, CA; three sisters, Kayla, Hailey and Emily LaVarier of O’Dell, IL; one step-sister, Geri Lynn (James) McMillin of KY; one step-brother, Terry (Sarah) McMillin of Morris, IL; one uncle, George (Karen) Rusch of Dwight, IL; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Memorial services for Hot Dog will be Friday, April 27, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded. “Hot Dog” was not about dressing up, blue jeans and t-shirts would be the requested attire for attendance.
