Obituary of Roselind M. Krieger
Roselind M. Krieger, (nee Palmer), age 93, of Crest Hill the past 10 years, and formerly of Joliet and Elwood, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, April 27, 2018 at home, with her family by her side.
Born May 26, 1924 in Elwood, she was the daughter of Glenn Y. and Louise M. (nee Korst) Palmer, Sr. She attended a one room school in Elwood as a child, and Joliet Township High School. In her early life, she worked at the Joliet Arsenal in Elwood, and for Phillips Control in Rockdale. She then began working in the office of Dr. Don Wilhelmi, DDS in Joliet, the later, for 25 years, for Dr. Jack Carollo, DDS, until her retirement.
She was known by many as “the cookie lady,” and will be remembered especially for her chocolate chip cookies. For many years, she was the Recorder of Weight for the Channahon chapter of TOPS, and Secretary of the Stone City VFW Ladies Auxiliary Bowling League.
Surviving is her loving daughter, Jacqueline (Edward) Valek of Mazon; two grandchildren, Lori Ann (Chad) Baum of Channahon and Edward (Chel) Valek of San Antonio, TX; three great grandchildren, Matthew (Aspen) Klott in Germany, and Joshua and Casey Baum, both of Channahon; two great-great-grandchildren, Hailee and Jaxson Klott; one brother, Glenn Y. (Rosa) Palmer, Jr. of Crivitz, WI; sister-in-law, Mary (Donald) Calahan of Joliet, and three generations of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Norbert Joseph “Norbie” Krieger (July 24, 2007); her parents; one brother, Sheldon (Lois) Palmer (1994); one sister, Marilyn (Mel) Peterson (2007); and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Frances (Daniel) Puttoff, Leona (John) Crowe, Lucille (Armand) Cormier, Louise (Arnold) Heitzelemen, Virginia (Peter) Scholtes, Lorraine Krieger and Donald (Helen) Krieger.

Funeral Services for Roselind Krieger will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Rainbow Hospice would be appreciated.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
