Joseph Worek

At the age of 96, Joseph Worek passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 2, 2018 at the Inn at Willow Falls.  He was born March 19, 1922 to the late Margaret and Martin Worek.  Joe attended St. Thaddeus Grade School.  He began working at U.S. Steel in 1939, until he went overseas to serve his Country in the U.S. Army under General Omar Bradley, "the soldiers general" during WWII.

Upon returning from the war, he continued his career at U.S. Steel where he met his beloved wife of 69 years, Marjorie Ann Peterson.

He is also survived by his son, William (Mary Jane) Worek, and two grandsons, Christopher Joseph Worek and Michael William Worek.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, who passed away April 12, 2018; his parents; two brothers, Stanley and Andrew “Jack” Worek; and three sisters, Julia, Mary and Katherine.

Funeral services for Joseph Worek will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville.  Visitation will be held TUESDAY MORNING from 8:30 a.m. until time of services at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to St. Raymond Catholic Grade School.  For more information, please call (815) 741-5500 or visit his Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
