Obituary of Robert Joseph Follis
Robert J. "Bob" Follis, 61, of Shorewood, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Chicago, IL, to the late Edward and Theresa (nee LoPresti) Follis and was preceded in death by Jeremiah "Jerry" and Joan McDevitt.
Bob is survived by his fiancé, Binh Tram; his four children, Eddie (Allan) Follis, Maggie (Miranda) Follis, Mary Kate (Chris) Smith, and Patrick Follis; his eight loving grandchildren; and his brothers, Glen Follis and Father Patrick McDevitt C.M. Bob was a loving father, partner, friend and "Papa" to all.
Bob was a larger than life, passionate man. He worked at AT&T for 18 years, and then found his future with insurance. Bob founded the Follis Insurance Agency LLC, where he worked until he was forced to give up the career he loved due to his illness. Bob was deeply involved with his loving family, golfing with the "guys" and had over forty years on the ice playing and refereeing hockey. Bob was a self-pronounced "grill master" and loved having everyone over for BBQs. He was always there to lend a helping hand with household projects, taking his grandkids out for the day and making sure Binh experienced the small precious things in life. Bob was known for lighting up any room and even after his death we know he will always be with us.
"If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy, a friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I too will miss."
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the wonderful care takers at Northwestern Hospital, Joliet Area Community Hospice and to our family and friends for their love and support.
