Obituary of Earl James Womersley, Jr.
Earl James Womersley, Jr. age 84, of Shorewood, and formerly of Minooka and Plainfield, passed away peacefully, at home, on Monday, July 23, 2018.
Born October 19, 1933 in Pittsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Earl J. and Helen (nee Poole) Womersley, Sr. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, and worked as an aircraft mechanic for the former Eastern Airlines.
Earl was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He played the trombone and was a member of several bands early in his life before taking up building and flying Radio Controlled airplanes. He was a member of the Grundy County RC Club. At age 80, he returned to music, began taking music lessons again and joined the Joliet Junior College Community Band, and also played with the Joliet Pops Band. In his free time he loved having coffee with his dear friends, Nacho and others.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Marshalene (nee Douglas) Womersley of Shorewood; his children, Teresa (Bill) Bajt, Renee (Michael) Bianchetta and James (Katie O’Grady) Womersley; six grandchildren, Kelly (Matthew) Boley, Mary Jo (Ian) Botnick, Bret (Vanessa) Bianchetta, Aaron Bianchetta, Martha Womersley and Earl Womersley; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thalia (the late Hal) Birch and Audrey (John) Cicco; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Veterans Administration and Joliet Area Community Hospice for their loving care and support.
Cremation rites will be accorded and graveside services for Earl Womersley will be held on his birthday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Fred C.
