Obituary of Nicholas R. Granata
Nicholas R. Granata, age 59, of Shorewood, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at his late residence. Nick was born April 3, 1959, in Evergreen Park, IL, where he was raised, the son of Robert “Whitey” and the late Emily (nee Consoli) Granata. Formerly of Plainfield, Nick resided in Shorewood for the past year. He was a graduate of Evergreen Park High School, Class of 1977, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Nick retired from BP in 2017 with over 20 years of dedicated service. He was passionate about nature, birds, astronomy, the National Audubon Society and thoroughly enjoyed his 1995 Corvette.
Nick is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kim (nee Haase) Granata of Shorewood; his two children, Kristen Granata of Manhattan, KS and R.J. Granata of Shorewood; his father, Robert “Whitey” Granata of Orland Park; and his two sisters, Laurie (Brian) Christensen of Orland Park and Sharon (Jeff) McKendry of Lemont. Nick was the dearest uncle of Karly (Kevin) Brocious, Alec and Erik Christensen and Gavin and Sara McKendry.
He was preceded by his mother, Emily (nee Consoli) Granata (2008).
The family of Nicholas R. Granata will receive all family and friends on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood, from 10:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Family interment will be held privately.
