Mary Lou Querio
(nee Schager)
Age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Mary Lou was born in Joliet, the daughter of the late Anton and Isabelle (nee Lea) Schager and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of St. Patrick Grade School and St. Francis Academy, Class of 1949. Mary Lou was an active volunteer; she was the first President of the Women's Club of Holy Family Catholic Church. She volunteered at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, where she served on the Board of Directors for thirteen years. Mary Lou served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Joseph Medical Center and Chairwoman of the Council of Volunteers for the Illinois Hospital Association. She enjoyed boating at the Three Rivers Yacht Club for ten years.
Mary Lou is survived by her two sons, Jack J. (Judy) Querio and Jeff (Mary Jo) Querio both of Joliet, IL; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Jason) Pedaci of Philadelphia, PA; sister-in-law, Pat Schager of Crest Hill; and dearest aunt of Leann (Paul) Passalano, A.J. Schager, Scott (Jody) Schager and Christine Schager. She is also survived by several great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Jack J. Querio Sr. (January 7, 2018); her parents and her brother, Anton "Bud" Schager (1988).
Funeral services for Mary Lou Querio will be Friday, September 14, 2018, at 10:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rds. to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
